Japanese // Vietnamese

Heart flavours and raw spaces, Our little local pride offering a unique Japanese and French fusion kind of cuisine. Wish I had it at their original branch, but this is good enough.

Baby Eggplant with donburi sauce, marscapone cheese and tempura flakes.
Party in my mouth.
The starter dish was delish and amaaazing. I've never tasted such flavourful eggplant/ brinjal with such a combination of textures. And they're served whole on stems! Us hungry duo wolfwed this down with the sauce. I want to go back just for this again.

Mentaiko Spaghetti tossed with cod roe, spring onions and shoyu.
This aromatic dish had the spaghetti was on the hard side- but adds an interesting chewiness to the dish. Mentaiko is my favourite japanese topping and I was almost scavenging for more at the end.

Beef Short Rib Steak with walnut-goat cheese, quinoa with herb nutter and a carbernet reduction.
I love how they served it with the reduction in replacement of the usual red wine people would go for. Soaking every tender slice in it before popping it in your mouth is a trying process (though only lasts for 2 secs flat) because the beef is so juicy and tender and I can't wait for breaks in between slices. Every bit of this dish was interesting and well-made. I even had whole pieces of the capsicum! Quinoa was new to me and it was awesome with the salad.

Of course, the boy's first dinner upon return shouldn't be too shabby. He's only giving that face cus the food took quite a while to come and he couldn't comprehend why I was taking photos instead of stuffing my face with food at 9pm.

We are happy people after the meal.
